   When I was 5 years old, my mother saw a piano on the side of the road that was intended to be thrown out in the trash. When she saw it, she thought it would be a fine piece of furniture in our house. When I saw it, I thought it would be a fine instrument to play! So when I was 6 years old, I asked my mom for piano lessons. She said that we couldn’t afford piano lessons, and if I wanted to take piano lessons I would need to raise my own money to take them. Since I was 6 years old I didn’t have any idea on how to make money for piano lessons. One Sunday, I was walking out the door of our Church and the Pastor approached me. 

I told him I wanted to sing songs in the front of the Church, maybe someone could see my talent and I could afford some piano lessons. So he asked me if I could sing something for him right then! So I sang the first verse and chorus of “Uptown Girl”. He thought it was so cute and he suggested that I offer singing telegrams to people in our neighborhood to earn money for piano lessons. And that is exactly what I did! I rode my bike around town going door to door asking who would like a singing telegram. My typical sales pitch was, “Hi! I’m Jenny and I’m selling singing telegrams so I can earn money to pay for piano lessons. Someday I want to speak at a big convention about how I raised money for piano lessons and I want to invent a lot of music!” So there I went with the “Speak at a big convention and make a big invention”. I did eventually earn enough money to take piano lessons. PLUS-I earned enough money to take violin and cello lessons as well! I also bought every instrument I ever owned and didn’t have any support from my parents or other family members with lessons or instruments. I lived near Alma, Michigan otherwise known as Scotland USA. Alma College is a celtic arts college that teaches Bagpiping, Celtic Harp, Fiddle, Celtic Dance-Basically Anything with the Celtic Arts. All of my teachers that taught me at Alma College were part of the famous TRANSIBERIAN ORCHESTRA. I have many memories of my teachers telling me about their cross Country travels performing with the Transibierian Orchestra and they taught me the methods of wonderful music performance. I graduated from Alma College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music. I performed many weddings and events while I lived in Michigan. Then the economy crashed in 2008 and I moved to North Carolina with my husband and son to take a music teaching position. In 2018 I suffered a horrific accident in which I was left completely disabled for 6 months. During this time of recovery, I started following some of my vendor friends on Facebook. I had performed a wedding where Marian Hilliard was the wedding planner and I had been following her for some time. I noticed how uplifting she was to others in her group of friends called the “Association of Bridal Consultants”. I saw that Marian had another friend named Jennifer Lloyd Ball and I could see the wonderful encouraging words that Jennifer posted daily on her social media pages. I longed to belong to this wonderful group of wedding planners that were so encouraging! I researched membership in ABC and here I am as an ABC Member at the ABC Conference! I love the connection I have with the wedding planners in ABC and the encouragement they gave me during the toughest time of my life will never be forgotten!
